Since 1999, Matthieu Laurette & DRINKS BY: The Beer, Wine & Other Alcohol Art Archive are setting up the first large “gathering” of bottles and cans of alcoholic beverages that have been conceived and designed by modern and contemporary artists from the 20th century up to today. Our aim is not to collect unique pieces, but to have one example each of these special editions of bottles and cans.
This gathering in progress was exhibited for the first time at Museum Wiesbaden (D) on the occasion of the Camo Show exhibition (6 May – 1 July 2001), it was subsequently shown at Cimaise et Portique, Centre Départemental d’Art Contemporain, Albi (F) on the occasion of the exhibition Life Ahead of You (29 June – 4 November 2002), at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) London (UK) on the occasion of the exhibition Publicness (29 January – 16 March 2003) and at Musée International des Arts Modestes-MIAM, Séte (F) on the occasion of the exhibition Miam Miam Glou Glou (30 October 2003 – 15 January 2004). DRINKS BY: The Beer, Wine & Other Alcohol Art Archive returns for a new public exhibition at MAC VAL - Musée d'Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne, Vitry-sur-Seine from October 20, 2023 – March 3, 2024 before being hosted in other international museums and institutions over the coming years.
This archive has been primarily built up with donations, and we appeal to your generosity to help us develop DRINKS BY. We hope to count you among those whose generous support is allowing this exciting and ambitious project to continue. If you have made or produced, or know someone (artist, winery, brewery, museum, gallery…) who makes anything (labels, bottles, cans, special art editions, limited editions…), which should be archived by DRINKS BY, let us know about it:

Depuis 1999, Matthieu Laurette & DRINKS BY: The Beer, Wine & Other Alcohol Art Archive, constituent le premier grand regroupement de bouteilles et de boîtes de boissons alcoolisées, conçues et/ou décorées par des artistes modernes et contemporains du XXè siècle jusqu'à nos jours. Il ne s'agit en aucun cas de rassembler des pièces ou originaux en exemplaire unique, mais des multiples.

DRINKS BY: The Beer, Wine & Other Alcohol Art Archive revient pour une nouvelle exposition publique au MAC VAL - Musée d'Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne, Vitry-sur-Seine du 20 octobre 2023 au 3 mars 2024 puis sera accueillie prochainement dans d’autres musées et institutions internationales.
Ces archives étant principalement constituées de dons, nous faisons appel à votre générosité, afin que nous puissions développer DRINKS BY. Nous espérons pouvoir vous compter parmi ceux et celles qui auront permis à cet ambitieux projet de se constituer.
